 Accounts Assistant One Year Maternity Cover

Manns is a friendly and fun department store situated in the middle of Cranleigh High Street. Due to Maternity leave we seek cover in our Accounts and general administration. The current incumbent works from 8.30 to 2.30, five days a week but we would also welcome applications from someone working full time.We are very customer focused and consider that we are an important part of the local community having been in business since 1887. We cover a wide range of products and services which make for a dynamic working environment where you will need to think quickly and take decisions which our good reputation for customer service is maintained

Your duties will include:

  • Managing the Sales and Purchase Ledger
  • Daily cashing up and reconciling of suspense account
  • Managing petty cash and staff expenses
  • Processing VAT exempt and interest free credit claims
  • General admin jobs as required
  • IT troubleshooting and liaising with outsourced IT company

A more detailed description of Sales and Purchase ledger :

  • Register, approve and archive invoices
  • Posting payments onto accounts
  • AIS statistics reporting
  • Making payments via BACS
  • Monthly debtor statements
  • Reviewing Customer and Supplier aged debtors and reconciliations
  • Creating stop notes and withheld invoices
  • Posting credit card payments
  • Updating the cash flow spreadsheet
  • Set up supplier accounts
  • Complete credit application forms
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers by phone and email
  • Liaising with suppliers that are chasing payments
  • Filing maintenance
  • Managing the cross over between Merchandise and accounts systems

Depending on hours worked there will be some work on the merchandise system which involves:

  • Creating new products on the system and checking prices
  • Raising purchase orders and sales orders
  • Stock counting checks
