National Walking Month: Week 1

National Walking Month: Week 1

This walk will take you along the old railway line, and then back through the village. It has been tried and tested and takes 30-35 minutes; however, this can vary depending on walking speed.

1. Start at Manns of Cranleigh.

2. Cross the main road and walk towards Sainsburys car park.

3. Enter Sainsburys car park, on the left hand side you will see an entrance to the old rail way line (see picture).

4. Once on the old railway line turn right and continue to walk.

5. Continue down the old railway line (10-15 minutes), until you cross under a small bridge.

6. Once you have crossed under the small bridge, keep an eye out on your right for some small steps (see picture). Note: there are 3 pathways into the woodland area, the first contains steps, but the others do not. It doesn’t matter which entrance you take.

7. Climb these steps and cross the small woodland area, you should see a small opening. This will bring you out onto the Cranleigh Common (see picture). Note: There are a couple of openings along this side, it doesn’t matter which one you take. As long as you exit onto the common.

8. Cross the common, with the small house/hall staying on your right. Note: There are normally paths trodden down by dog walkers.

9. Once you reach the main road, continue down back down the high street and you will find yourself back at Manns of Cranleigh.

Unfortunatley we are unable to save PDF or word documents to our website. However, all the instructions and maps will be printed and available in store. If you would like a virtual copy or are unable to come into store, please email us at and we will be able to send it straight over.

Thank you. Happy walking!
